
Reverend Roger Butts
UUCOB welcomes Rev. Roger as our part-time contract minister beginning in September of 2022. Rev. Roger will be visiting OBX to present in-person sermons four times during his contracted year and will be with us via Zoom two times per month.
A graduate of Wesley Theological Seminary in D.C., Rev. Roger was ordained in the Unitarian Universalist tradition 20 years ago. He is a long-time member of the Unitarian Universalist Christian Fellowship and the International Thomas Merton Society. After serving two UU congregations as senior minister, he traveled for a year organizing against the death penalty throughout Colorado. Rev. Roger has been a Staff Chaplain at a hospital system in Colorado Springs. For many years he was a board member of the local branch of the NAACP and the Greenberg Center for Learning and Tolerance in Colorado Springs.
His prayers and an essays are published in a number of anthologies from Skinner House Books, the Boulder Daily Camera, the CS Gazette, and the Quad City Times. He is also a contributing writer for Contemplative Light. Roger recently wrote “Seeds of Devotion: Weekly Contemplations on Faith.“
Rev. Roger is married to Marta Fioriti, who is also a minister in Black Forest, Colorado Springs. Roger and his wife have three teenagers and a black lab.
